The Noble Fir (Abies Procera) is a western North American fir, native to the Cascade Range and  Coast Range mountains of extreme northwest California and western Oregon and Washington.

It is a large evergreen tree, typically up to 130 to 230 feet tall with a 6.5 foot trunk diameter, with a narrow conic crown.  The bark on young trees is smooth, grey, and with resin blisters, becoming red-brown, rough and fissured on old trees.  The leaves are needle-like, about one inch long, glaucous blue-green above and below with strong stomatal bands, and a blunt or notched tip.  The leaves are arranged spirally on the shoot, but twisted slightly s-shaped to be upcurved above the shoot.

The tree’s distinct shape, hardiness, strong branches, and ability to stay green for a long time make it a popular and premium Christmas tree choice. Its clipping and branches are used to make wreathes, door swags, garlands and other holiday decorations.  Noble will accept heavy ornaments and have more space between the limbs for longer decorations.  Our Noble are lightly sheared by knife each year and cultured for strong tops.  A home size Noble takes approximately nine years to grow.
